Procedures for Chatswood Car Park Drop-Off and Pick-Up for Parents and Carers

  • The Chatswood Car Park has an upper and lower section.
  • There are 14 'Drop-off and Pick-up' bays located in front of the Retail Centre and Kindergarten. To access the 'Drop-off and Pick-up' area, please enter through Entry 3 in the Upper Chatswood Car Park.
  • Two marquees have been installed along the 'Drop-off and Pick-up' fence perimeter for all -weather shelter during afternoon pick-up.  Staff will supervise students during the afternoon pick-up.
  • At pick-up time, cars in the 'Drop-off and Pick-up' area bays for more than five minutes will be directed to loop back and join the end of the line. The priority is keeping the traffic moving.
  • Designated parking spaces for parents can be accessed by entering Entry 3, turning right immediately to avoid the 'Drop-off and Pick-up' area, or via Entry 4.
  • Please note that the Mayflower Car Park (Entry 5) no longer has a 'Drop-off and Pick-up' area, and the Mayflower Street entry is now an exit and an entry. Please do not queue here for the 'Drop-off and Pick-up' area.
  • Secondary School Student Leaders ('Car Park Superheroes') will assist students in getting to class or The ARC during the morning routine.

STARTING PRIMARY AT JPC

FAQs

Everything you need to know to start with confidence!

To assist families in navigating around the campus, the College has created maps outlining the location of all buildings and areas of interest. Click to access the College Map and Primary Precinct Map.

Parents and guardians of Primary School students are asked to use the Chatswood Car Park for student drop-off and collection each day. This car park has been specifically designed with student safety in mind and to ensure the traffic flows smoothly. Cars must park in an allocated parking space to drop-off or pick-up a student. Stopping to allow children to alight from, or climb into, vehicles places children in danger and is not permitted. The Chatswood and Markwell Car Parks will be extremely congested in the first weeks of each term and your patience and adherence to road safety rules are sought.

As part of our holistic approach to education at John Paul College, we offer a diverse range of co-curricular activities to our students. It is a requirement that all students at the College undertake at least one co-curricular activity each year.

Sport and Activities

Information in relation to registration for all sports and activities will become available prior to the beginning of each term. We have a strong emphasis on participation, but some sports may require students to attend ‘trials’ in circumstances where there are limited places available for registration. To ensure the process is consistent and fair to all new and existing students, this information is forwarded to all parents prior to each term and notices are placed in MyJPC. If you require any further clarity or information, please send your enquiries to sport@jpc.qld.edu.au to ensure we direct your questions to the appropriate staff.

Performing Arts

For new students wanting to join various performing arts ensembles and groups, auditions will be available on request. Parents wishing to learn more about our Performing Arts Program are encouraged to contact their office on 07 3826 3383 to speak with a program co-ordinator.

If your child is interested in taking up private or group music lessons, parents will be required to complete a Performing Arts Enrolment Form (New students - click here; Current JPC students - click here). Information regarding co-curricular ensemble options for students can be found in the Performing Arts Handbook.

We understand some new Primary students may not have access to their current Outside of School Hours Care provider once they have withdrawn. With this in mind, John Paul College allows families of new students from Kindergarten upwards to make use of the College Vacation Care Program. Attending our program will give your child the opportunity to start meeting new friends and familiarising themselves with the campus before their first official day.

If you wish to make use of the Vacation Care Program at the College during the current holidays, please complete the online enrolment form via the MyXplor link. Online Bookings using the MyXplor platform are essential. For assistance, please email oshc@jpc.qld.edu.au.

MyJPC is an all-in-one information sharing platform for parents, students and staff at John Paul College. The platform provides parents with instant access to important College updates, notices, newsletters, calendars and key resources in one convenient location.

To access MyJPC, a username and password are required.

Parents should start receiving an electronic email containing their username and password two weeks before commencing at the College. It is important to ensure the College has an active and correct email address for you on file, as user accounts cannot be created without this field. Please check your "junk" email box, as some devices may recognise these emails as spam. If you have not received your login details the day before the New Family Orientation, please contact Techsphere.

The MyJPC Platform Guide is a very helpful resource for navigating your way through MyJPC. User sessions for new parents will be offered as part of the Orientation Program.

Your family ID number is also your username for the Cashless Canteen. Your initial login password is CanTeen. This is a temporary password and will need to be reset once you have successfully logged in for the first time. To access the Cashless Canteen system, log in to the MyJPC dashboard and click “Canteen Online Orders”. If you need assistance with setting up or accessing the Cashless Canteen through My Student Account (MSA), please contact our Finance team for support.

Tuck shop must be ordered online for Prep to Year 3 students through the My Student Account (MSA) portal and students in Years 4 to 12 can access the tuck shop directly.

We recommend that new commencing students bring their own lunch on the first few days.

For the safety of our students, John Paul College offers a number of different private bus routes around the community for our students in Years 4 to 12. Students that are of a younger age and wishing to utilise this service will need to contact the Head of School so the College can ensure that absolute safety is ensured for these students.

To reduce the expense for families, our bus system is not a door-to-door service; however, they navigate a route that is set out by the College based on feedback we received through our Bus Route Expression of Interest forms. Whilst we cannot guarantee a route in your area, we strive to assist as many families as possible by using feedback from this form to improve our bus routes each year.

To ensure a convenient service to families, our public buses are paid for through the use of a Translink card. Fares are subsidised by the College and utilise council bus stops for pick-ups and drop-offs. Students only pay for what they use and bookings are not needed to secure a seat on any of our routes. For more information about our routes, please access our full listing on our Bus Routes page.

If your child is unable to attend the College, please notify us via the ‘Report Absences’ button under ‘QUICK LINKS’ in MyJPC or alternatively phone the Absentee Line 07 3826 3566 from 7.30am onwards, or the Primary Office from 8.15am on the day of absence/partial absence from school or email absences@jpc.qld.edu.au. A message service is available for parents who wish to leave details before this time.

If a student requires leave for four (4) days or more days, parents are asked to submit a Leave of Absence Form on MyJPC under ‘FAMILY MANAGEMENT’, which will be distributed to the Deputy Principal – Head of Primary. For further details, please refer to the Attendance Policy.

Students who are late to school should visit the Primary Office on their way to class to sign in. The roll is marked electronically at 8.30am and arrival after this time is required to be entered by the Primary School Office.

An email will be sent to you from the Primary Office on 28 November with your child’s classroom teacher. For Prep students, this will also include your child's staggered start date.
