Your child's development is our number one focus. Academically, emotionally, physically and socially, we nurture, teach and guide them to develop skills that will allow them to succeed in life.
Please find below information about Kindergarten at JPC. Further information is available in our Kindergarten handbook and we have provided some helpful FAQ's below.

During the first week, there will be a staggered start to enable the children to settle happily in smaller groups and become familiar with their teachers and friends. It also allows teachers to spend more time with individual children, ensuring they feel happy and secure in their new environment.
The Kindergarten year begins on Tuesday 27 January, as Monday 26 January is Australia Day (public holiday).
PART TIME children attend 1 day during the first week.
FULL TIME children attend 2 days during the first week.
An email will be sent to families in early December from the Head of Early Education with your child’s start date for Week 1.
All families are required to complete the following activities before commencing Kindergarten at JPC:

Retail Centre Holiday Hours - The John Paul College Retail Centre will offer 30-minute uniform fitting sessions during the Christmas break for all new and current students.
We will not be able to accept walk-ins during this time, so we request that families take the time to book a 30-minute uniform fitting session for their child/ren. Please note that a separate session is required for each child, and multiple bookings are required per family. We recommend you make two bookings in a row.
The Athlete's Foot will also be on campus from Monday 5 January to Friday 23 January (excluding weekends), offering fittings for children. Purchases will be available on the day. No bookings are required for the Athlete's Foot pop-up shop.
For any enquiries about JPC uniforms, please get in touch with 07 3826 3397 or email retailcentre@jpc.qld.edu.au.

STARTING KINDERGARTEN AT JPC
Everything you need to know to start with confidence!
The children need to bring several items with them each day to Kindergarten. Please send these along in a named bag that your child can manage to open and close themselves. Morning Tea and Lunch are named in separate containers.
Parents are requested to pack healthy foods for meals at the Kindergarten. Please do not send lollies, chips or chocolate. As early childhood educators, we will be encouraging the children to develop an awareness of food that is nutritious. The children's food will be kept in the fridge so that healthy foods will remain fresh. We will also be developing the children’s awareness of the environment and teaching them to reuse and recycle and would prefer that you send a rubbish-free lunch and morning tea. Please remember to supply a spoon for yogurt and a fork for fruit if required.
We request that morning tea be packed in the small snack bag provided to families for ease of storage in our refrigerators. Lunch may be packed in a standard lunch box. Please Note:
There is NO TUCKSHOP at Kindergarten.
Named water bottle: The children will be accessing their own water bottles throughout the day. During the first week, please check to ensure that your child's bottle fits in the carrying container located on the kitchen bench.
Clothing:
A change of uniform clothes and underwear: Please store these clothes in a small cloth bag (or similar - NO PLASTIC BAGS PLEASE) inside your child's Kindy bag. This will keep them clean until needed. Your child will need spare underwear and a spare pair of uniform shorts.
The JPC Bucket Hat is compulsory for all children. Please ensure that your child's hat is named. Hats will remain at Kindy in the children's lockers until the end of their week.
Velcro sports shoes are required as part of Kindy uniforms. Predominantly white shoes with colour stripes are preferable.
Wet bags to store wet clothing.
Sheets:
Sheets need to be in a named bag. The mattress size is 130 x 55 x 5cm, and a fitted cot sheet covers the mattress. A top sheet, small pillow and cuddly can be included if desired and need to fit inside the sheet bag also. The sheet bag usually has a drawstring so children can independently take out their sheets. Please ensure your child’s name is marked on both sheets and the outside of the sheet bag.
Parents and guardians of Kindergarten students are asked to use the Chatswood Car Park for student drop-off and collection each day. This car park has been specifically designed with student safety in mind and to ensure the traffic flows smoothly. Cars must park in an allocated parking space to drop-off or pick-up a Kindergarten student. Stopping to allow children to alight from, or climb into, vehicles places children in danger and is not permitted. The Chatswood and Markwell Car Parks will be extremely congested in the first weeks of term and your patience and adherence to road safety rules are sought.
The child/ren must be brought into the Kindergarten and signed in by a responsible adult. The register to be signed is located on the bench inside each classroom. Again, on collection, this register must be completed. Children in Outside School Hours Care will be cared for by the staff of this facility and handed to the teacher when Kindergarten begins.
Children must be collected and signed out of Kindergarten by an adult. At the time of enrolment, you must provide the names, addresses and telephone numbers of persons authorised to collect your child.
It is your responsibility to notify the Kindergarten of any changes in this authorisation. The Kindergarten requires that all authorised persons collect your child (other than parents) and show identification.
We understand some new Kindergarten students may not have access to their current Outside of School Hours Care provider once they have withdrawn. With this in mind, John Paul College allows families of new students from Kindergarten upwards to make use of the College Vacation Care Program. Attending our program will give your child the opportunity to start meeting new friends and familiarising themselves with the campus before their first official day.
If you wish to make use of the Vacation Care Program at the College during the current holidays, please complete the online enrolment form via the MyXplor link. Online Bookings using the MyXplor platform are essential. For assistance, please email oshc@jpc.qld.edu.au.

If you have not received your login details the day before the New Family Orientation, please contact Techsphere.
